Thank you all for donating to Theo’s education fund. We were able to cover the cost of his last module and pay for his transport for the remaining part of the year.

Help a young underprivileged man complete his education and stand a chance to win over R10 000 worth of South African homeschool curriculum products and books.

Footprints Charity FundraiserTheo is a 19-year-old man (right) who lives with his gogo in Khayelitsha, Cape Town. For the past four years Wendy Young, co-author of Footprints, has been helping his grandmother, Chriselda (left) with food, schooling for his sister (middle) and housing.

In 2010 Theo’s mom left the home and Chriselda to find a job in Johannesburg. She has never returned, nor do they receive any financial assistance from her.

Against many odds, Theo graduated from high school in 2014 and gained entrance into Damelin to study a B.Com in Accounting.

He was able to get a bursary via Dameline for for his first year’s study in 2015. Due to power failures, financial difficulty and ill health, he battled to study at night and did not pass his last module. Thus his bursary for his 2nd year was not extended.  He had however achieved up to 74% for each of his other 8 modules.

Not knowing what to do, he has spent this year doing odd jobs and reading whatever he can get his hands on. In desperation, his grandmother has reached out again to Wendy for help. This is where YOU come in…

Footprints Charity FundraiserFootprints is running a fundraiser via a raffle to raise the funds he needs to redo the module he failed. The first prize is a Footprints On Our Land – South Africa’s  Heritage Program (valued at R4500).

Once he has passed this module, Wendy will help him to get a bursary for his next year of study via corporations with the help of Damelin. They cannot currently help him with the cost of the module, as all bursary allocations are done at the beginning of the year. Any further funds raised will be used for daily transport, food and text book needs.

Once Theo has completed his B.Com and he is employed, he will be able to support his family and help his younger two siblings finish their schooling, keep his grandmother off the streets, where she goes to beg for food, clothing and money daily. So by helping one person, you will change the lives of 4.

Chriselda, aged 64, gets a pension of R1200 per month. She uses this along with her begging acquisitions to feed, clothe, school and house her 3 grandchildren.

To enter the raffle you are required to deposit a minimum of R100 into our bank account. For each R100 you will have your name added to the draw that many times. (e.g. R500 = 5 times your name will be entered)
