Anneli Swanepoel (19) was homeschooled from grade one and completed her matric year in 2014 and received her N4 in Accommodation and Tourism. From a young age she wanted to run a guest house and she made her dream a reality.
Her parents helped her to restore an old farm house on land they owned some 7km from their home farm and the result is a beautiful self-catering farm house on the Free State plains, near the town of Smithfield.

Annelie worked very hard restoring furniture and sanding down walls herself and invested all the money she had earned since she was 10 years old from selling rusks, into the guest house.

Her two brothers Albertus (17) and Jacobus (15) also worked just as hard helping her with this project.

The house offers four spacious bedrooms with 2.5 bathrooms, including both a  shower and bath. There is a fully equipped kitchen and the entire holding is run on solar power, so its never affected by power failures or load shedding! However, there is no TV so that families spend more time relaxing together.
The guesthouse is more a guest farm for families. The house can accommodate 8-10 people and is suited for families or friends who want to spend time together.
The farmyard is child friendly and Anneli’s aim is for families to come and relax on the farm.

Welgeval Farmstay is a working farm, which is home to an assortment of animals and it offers many activities for the whole family to enjoy such as the big concrete farm dam, hiking trails, picnic spots, mountain climbing, bicycle trails, night drive, bird-watching, stargazing around the campfire, or, for the kids, the dollhouse, and jungle gym.

The farm is 50km from the N1 from Edenburg and 22km from the N6 between Reddersburg and Smithfield. It is 100km from Bloemfontein.

Anneli also hosts camps for homeschoolers on the farm.
