Homeschool and University

Instead of school, its a combination and homeschool and university for South African musical prodigy, Daniel Petersen.

DrumsAt age 11, he holds the record for being South Africa’s youngest university student,  having been accepted to study music at  the University of the Western Cape Performing Arts Centre in February 2014.

Daniel, springs from a line of  both professional and amateur musicians and both his parents play music instruments too. They discovered his amazing drumming talent when they found him playing drums rhythmically at just 14 months old!

By the age of five he was performing at prestigious events, including functions attended by the deputy president. In November 2007, he performed at the Edu-Jazz event at the Baxter Theatre. He is the youngest person in the Western Cape to be officially endorsed by music equipment-makers, Yamaha.

He has also  performed with the King of Pop’s drummer, and met Stevie Wonder’s daughter. His performing schedule for 2014  includes touring with four international artists, playing the New Orleans Jazz Festival again, and gigging in Russia and Las Vegas.

Although Daniel attended school initially, his family soon discovered that it was not in his best interests and so they have subsequently chosen for him to continue his education at home, for the conventional subjects like Maths and Language etc. and also at university for his musical tuition.

This allows for him to progress at his own pace and not be set back by missing school lessons when he is away performing or on tour. Home education offers Daniel customised education!
