Josh Thirion (now age 15 in 2018) was the youngest published South African author in South Africa, at the age of 9.
He published two cookbooks (Cook with Josh at age 9 and Bake with Josh at age 11).
He won his 1st Gourmand Award in the Louvre Pyramid in Paris, France. The Gourmand Awards are like the Oscars of the Food & Wine Industry. He competed against adult writers of 205 countries in his category.
At age 10, he became youngest ever, actually the first child to win a Gourmand Award. At the age of 12, he won his second Gourmand Award in Yantai, China. He was then invited to the Frankfurt Book Fair where he won Best of the Best in 20 Years Gourmand Award.
In 2016, his website won Best Food Website in SA and it was ranked 3rd in the World.
He has been on numerous TV shows such as Top Billing, Kwêla Expresso, Afternoon Express, Hectic 9 Nine, Dagbreek, YUM.Me, Asian Food Network and Malaysian Food Network.
He has also been interviewed on radio stations such as KFM, Cape Talk, RSG, Radio Tygerberg, OFM, Jacaranda, Smile FM, etc. He also had bitparts in two Hollywood movies, The Dark Tower and Maze Runner 3.
