2010 Soccer World CupThis year South African schools come to a grinding halt for 5 weeks for the June/July holidays made longer than normal to accommodate our country hosting the FIFA world cup soccer 2010. How will this impact us as homeschoolers? In our homes, not much as we will not be taking the same holidays as the schools, but it does give us more time to do informal studies around the countries participating in the world cup as well as taking time for other subjects like art and music appreciation and nature study that get a little ignored during term time. For soccer lovers this is the perfect time to launch your family into a delight directed unit study on soccer. Countries taking part in the 2010 World Cup Should you wish to look at some of the cultural groups represented in our Bafana Bafana Soccer Team, Wikipedia has a list for you. You can combine this with one or more of our people groups lapbooks which will give you plenty to do to cover the 5 weeks of school break!
