Looking Back on 2008
As we head into the last month of our school year, its time to not only look forward to the summer holidays and festive season, but also time to reflect on our homeschooling year.We have started a habit of writing a ‘report’ for each child – for our records and for their pleasure. They love reading about their accomplishments at the end of each year. It’s a good time to look not only at the academic progress that your children have made, but also acknowledge the growth in their characters. This is a summary of the type of Homeschool Assessment that Shirley creates and here is a similar printable report created by Wendy. For more tips on compiling a portfolio of your child’s work this year, refer to Issue #1 of Reaching Higher. Here are some myth-busters and answers to frequently discussed topics that you can read and pass on to others. Websites As the rand weakens and the exchange rate soars, fuel costs rise and food prices hop and jump at alarming rates, perhaps you are thinking its time to make some extra money. Earning US dollars is great solution, as your earnings increase as the exchange rate goes up. While Shirley and her family took a three week holiday around the country, her website earnings peaked for the year and on her return she found she had already earned back what their holiday had cost. Find out about how you can turn your knowledge or hobbies into an income-generating website. Become an Infopreneur! Footprints News Read how Shirley and her family covered over 6000km on their Footprints Journey around SA while Wendy held the fort back at home! Please note that we will be closing from 15 December 2008 – 5 January 2009, so if you need any homeschool supplies from us by the New Year, please place your orders before then, or as soon as possible. Remember, our prices are in RANDS and so will not be affected by the soaring foreign exchange rates! Till next month, we wish you every blessing
