Places to visit in Mpumalanga

These educational places to visit in Mpumalanga will enrich your homeschooling experience.

Kruger National Park
You can plan a day visit or an overnight stay in the Kruger Park. However, accommodation needs to be booked well in advance. Visit the official Kruger National Park website for more details at
http://www.sanparks.org/parks/kruger/

Jane says:"Visit the Elephant Hall at Letaba Camp in the Kruger National Park. Download a worksheet from the Sanparks website before going. Very informative and interactive for kids of all ages."

Perry's Bridge Reptile Park
Located at Hazyview, this park is dedicated to the conservation of reptiles. Discover the mystery of snakes and other creepies and their essential role in the ecology. Family or group outings can be arranged.

Pilgrim's Rest Historical Village
Although the town is now very touristy, it is still very picturesque. There are a number of museums to visit and a short distance outside the town you can do gold panning (for gold dust) in the river. Get tickets for all of the above at the tourist information centre in the village.

Bourke's Luck Potholes
These natural wonders are huge holes eroded in the sandstone of the Blyde River.

God's Window
Climb the steps to see beautiful panoramic views of the Blyde River Canyon.

Mac-Mac Pools
This is a lovely, grassy, shaded picnic area with sparkling pools in the river in which you can swim. There is a small entrance fee. This is a good place to plan a lunch break while touring this region.
